"Mom, the soles need to be very thin and fexible." "Mom, the soles need to be very thin and fexible."
My son is the biggest barefoot shoes fan. He is hypermobile like me, and in conventional shoes, he always felt unstable, twisted his ankles often, got sore feet, and had difficulties running.

But in barefoot shoes he has much better ground feel, he doesn't "fall off" thick soles, and his foot and ankle strength and stability has improved a lot - just like mine, but the way.

His feet grew 4 sizes 😲 since winter, and he is now in adult sizes, size EU 39. So I had to look into new brands for him for spring/summer shoes.

He wanted sneakers in a discreet colour. He liked the new BeLenka stride, as well as Whitin. But they were both too wide for him, he has medium to medium-wide feet.
He also found Whitin too stiff and thick-soled, even with the insole out.

And then I remembered that he loved my Freet Talus.
So I went to @freetfootwear and got the model that the advertise as their thinnest, the aptly named Tanga.

Succes!
Tangas are approved as super thin and flexible, and thumbs up for not having to tie any laces.

What do you buy for your kids who are in adult sizes?
The hobbitest hobbit moment. I am building a pond The hobbitest hobbit moment. I am building a pond in my garden.
Stopped and took in the moment: Cosy garden, the first ripe strawberry of the year, birds chirping, fun manual labour, very wide and bare feet (and hairy, not feet, but lower legs)
And the neighbour's cat which like to keep me company.

Life is good, and I so enjoy finally being able to be barefoot again. 😊
Barefoot shoes are wonderful tools for protecting feet from cold, wet, spikey, yucky, and dangerous surfaces (and judgy people) - while retaining a much barefoot feeling as possible.
But I love it when I can be fully barefoot.👣 ❤️

If anyone wants to follow my wildlife pond building musings, they are over at @sagaincolours

A new, very wide brand! Barefootbudapest spotted t A new, very wide brand! Barefootbudapest spotted that @artrastudios_barefoot are much wider than their size chart says. My toes are happy looking at that toebox.
Their style is cool fashion sneakers. I like these light brown ankle height ones (currently unavailable). ➡️
Only I am not sold on the faux leather, I would worry about clammy feet. But nice for people who avoid leather.
I'd love an update on the breathability, Gabi. 🙂

Huh... safety footwear brand starts making barefoot shoes. It should be fairly easy for them to make barefoot-ish safety footwear then?
I know a *lot* of people would love that. Tell them you want that! 😃

Repost @barefootbudapest
Another ! ! SUPER WIDE ! !
barefoot brand is on the rise.

Artra has been on the safety footwear market for years, and now they have come out with a selection of super comfortable, really wide sneakers.

In comparison: Realfoot shoes are measured at 262/114 mm in size 40. While the Artra size chart says 264/101 mm only.
I think Artra is actually way wider than this.
Peerko is supposed to be 262/100 mm in size 40, almost the same as Artra, but in reality, Artra is much-much wider.

Artra sneakers mainly come in faux leather (some versions with and some without leather details),that is
super durable, almost fully free from creasing, water repellent, easy to clean.
Although the toe box is really wide, the heel part keeps these shoes securely on my super low volume,
narrow-heeled feet.

The sole is flexible, can be rolled up fully, and the ground feel is just a bit less than in Peerko Celebrate.
The upper is neither stitched nor glued to the sole, but fixed with the use of heat, a technology inherited from manufacturing safety shoes. The bond is virtually indestructible.

There are two main designs: flat and high sneakers, in some basic but nice colours: white, black, grey, brown.

The question is how your feet can breathe in them, but the insole is made of a breathable material and is supposed to keep your feet dry.
The price is in the standard range of quality barefoot shoes: between 135 and 160 EUR.

"I am looking for sandals you don't need to buckle "I am looking for sandals you don't need to buckle or tie." This is probably not the recommended way to put on Tikki Vibes, but I have done it with both my pairs for years now, and it works very well.
It only takes a few seconds, and when they are on, they are perfectly secure around the back heel.

My other pair of Tikki Vibes. They are such a summ My other pair of Tikki Vibes. They are such a summer stable for me, that I have two pairs of them.
They fit wide feet well, and the wide and adjustable front strap is very good for chunky toes.

We are having a heat spell, so I had to dig out my summer clothes before I thought I needed them.

@theadventuresofbeka inspires me to match my clothes in new ways and has a cool style, that I have taken cues from lately. Thank you for sharing your outfits.

Long-sleeved shirt because I managed to burn my translucent shoulders yesterday.
I absolutely love these shorts. They fit so comfortably, they don't pinch anywhere, they are tall enough for my long seat, and they have deep pockets.
I think I am going to clone them (make copies of the pattern pieces and sew a copy), so I can have more with this fit. My body type of compressed hourglass can be difficult to fit. Especially when I prefer a style that is not traditionally "feminine." So when I find something that works, I am going to wear it to death. 😄
